Episode Notes

Today on TAP I’m talking about why I think it’s so important for everyone (and I do mean everyone) to do something a liiiiittle bit outside of their comfort zone. The only way for us to grow as educators is to step outside the box and try something new. This has totally been at the forefront of my brain these days as I’m preparing for my OAKE (Organization of American Kodály Educators) presentation I’m doing next week in Oklahoma City.

Here are some things you’ll hear in this episode:

  • Why I think it’s not only important to treat your classroom as your laboratory, but essential for you and your students.
  • A few ideas I have about trying different modes of music making in different ways.
  • Why you don’t have to be labeled a “fill-in-the-blank” -inspired teacher in order to draw inspiration from different pedagogical approaches.
